Last Friday Courtney and Kurtis tied the knot with a cliff top elopement in the Blue Mountains (a special place for them as it is where Kurtis had proposed). Foggy, misty, wet and windy weather made for a moody mountain atmosphere that was intimate, wild and romantic. That’s the beauty of a location like the Blue Mountains – no matter what the weather, it is always dramatic and stunningly beautiful.
From out of town, Courtney and Kurtis booked a weekend away at the Hydro Majestic Hotel for their baby-moon, adding their secret elopement on the Friday. Sandra from Eternal Elegance met them at their hotel early on Friday morning for hair and makeup and Lisa from Wild Ivy Flowers delivered their bouquet and boutonniere. Celebrant Victoria Eustace, photographer Martine Payne and myself (Andrea from Weekday Wedded Bliss – also their second witness) met Courtney and Kurtis at Lincoln’s Rock where we quickly made our way through the bush path to the cliff’s edge. This also happened to be the exact moment a huge gust of wind blew up from the valley and turned our umbrellas inside out (literally!) Courtney and Kurtis took it all in their stride, embracing the elements and the whole experience. They were happy as long as they had each other, so after some cliff top photos with epic views in the background, we found a more sheltered spot where they were married. Then after a few more photos we all met at a nearby cafe to sign their marriage paperwork, warm up and debrief over a cuppa.
Elopements are meant to be adventurous and this one certainly was. Congratulations Courtney and Kurtis and thank you for trusting us with helping you mark this milestone in your relationship before you embark on your next exciting adventure – parenthood!
