There’s nothing quite like saying “I do” surrounded by the beauty of nature. Whether you picture yourselves with sand between your toes, lush greenery overhead, or sweeping cliff-top views, the great outdoors has it all. For those craving adventure, national parks and reserves offer breathtaking backdrops with endless photo opportunities. Or maybe a mountainside spot with panoramic views is more your style, where you can feel the exhilaration of being on top of the world..

For couples travelling from afar or showing off our beautiful backyard to out-of-towners, an iconic Aussie location is the way to go. Picture yourselves tying the knot on Sydney Harbour with the Opera House and Harbour Bridge in the background, or saying “I do” on the sands of Bondi Beach – maybe even grabbing a photo with a lifeguard! If the mountains call you, the Blue Mountains offer epic cliff-top views and lush forests, perfect for a jaw-dropping elopement. And for a laid-back yet legendary vibe, how about Byron Bay with its famous lighthouse and soft sandy beaches? While all so different, with any of these locations you’re guaranteed an unmistakable Aussie vibe.

Got a favourite bar, restaurant, cafe or pub? Are you foodies who really value a delicious meal? Or do you just want an easy option where all the catering and drinks are already at your venue?

Many bars, hotels and restaurants have areas for functions and small group private dining. Some even have gorgeous gardens or decks perfect for hosting a small ceremony. And if not, there is almost always a pretty park nearby. Of course, you’ll need to get in touch with your fave venue to see what’s possible (or ask us for our recommendations).

When eloping or planning a very small celebration, hotels and other accommodation like a luxury Airbnb, become an option. Getting married at your accommodation is not only super easy (get ready, get married, celebrate and honeymoon all in one), it also guarantees privacy (no sticky beak tourists watching your ceremony). There are so many unique options from fancy hotel suites in the city, gorgeous laid back farm stays to luxe coastal homes with coastal views.

What could be easier than getting married in your own home? Host a wedding dinner party or long lunch (get caterers in so you really get to sit back and enjoy the celebrations) or keep it to just the two or you and then head out somewhere nice to celebrate after.

Getting married at home is perfect if you have kids or pets. And if you’re planning a surprise wedding, this is definitely the option that will arouse the least suspicion. Plus, having professional photos taken in your own home creates a historical record of you in that place at that time, making those memories all the more special.

When planning a small wedding, you can get married pretty much anywhere provided that you have the relevant permission or permit. This is where you can get really creative. Have you ever thought of getting married…

  • In a fancy car or Kombi van?
  • On a boat or house boat?
  • On the top of the Harbour Bridge?
  • In a hot air balloon?
  • At the zoo?
  • On horseback?
  • At a gig/concert/festival?

And who says you have to get married in the afternoon? How about…

  • An after dark or midnight ceremony?
  • A sunrise ceremony followed by breakfast?
  • A sunset ceremony on a balmy summer’s eve?

If any of these ideas speak to you, but you still need help with specific locations or venues, get in touch and we’ll make some recommendations based on our knowledge and experience.
