What are the best wedding locations and venues in Sydney, The Blue Mountains, Byron Bay?

These are the most common questions we get asked for advice on. And the answer is simple, and complicated (in a good way).

You see, the smaller the wedding, the more options you have to choose a venue or location that is perfectly you!

We encourage our couples to think outside the box and beyond traditional "wedding" venues and locations.

Instead choose somewhere that best matches:

✴︎ Your priorities. What's really important to you on your wedding day? What do you most value?

✴︎ Your personalities. Is there a location you love? Somewhere that has special significance for your relationship? Somewhere you can return to often to reminisce after your wedding is done?

✴︎ Your style. Here is where you can really let your imaginations run wild. What do you love to do together? Where do you do it? What are you in to? Where does that happen?

Sure, Sydney harbour is spectacular, Cape Byron Lighthouse at sunrise is magic and sunset views in the Blue Mountains are incredible, but if they don't particularly mean something to you, then maybe consider somewhere a little more personal.

Make your elopement or micro-wedding truly unique by choosing somewhere that perfectly reflects your values and your personal style.

Niwa and Bastien asked us to help them create a we

Niwa and Bastien asked us to help them create a wedding that was elegant, easy and enjoyable, was respectful of their cultural backgrounds, was not over the top and still allowed for a genuine meaning and memory making.

Their Sydney micro-wedding came together quickly to align with Bastien’s parents visiting from France. They chose @publicdiningroom at Balmoral Beach as the venue for many reasons - delicious food and wine, a private dining room with views over the beach, an undercover terrace for their ceremony (no stressing about the weather) and access to one of Sydney’s prettiest and most loved beaches for their photos.

Sticking with their theme of ease and a focus on family, they had their couple portrait session before their ceremony allowing them to head straight into celebrations and a delicious long lunch with their guests straight after.

This wedding was a joyful expression of Niwa and Bastien’s love, the bringing together of their families and the creation of many wonderful shared memories together.

✴︎ This makes it so much easier to find a date that works for you.

✴︎ You can choose a date that is meaningful to you - an anniversary 💖, a birthday 🎂, an auspicious date , a palindrome. Get creative and choose a date you definitely will not forget.

✴︎Wedding locations are a lot quieter, making for a more private and intimate celebration. ⛲️

✴︎ Your favourite bar, restaurant or cafe 🍸 is more likely to be available. Same goes for our team of best in the business vendors.

✴︎ Wedding venues and vendors are happy to take smaller bookings. Most venues and vendors will have a minimum spend or service for weekends, especially in peak wedding season. By choosing a weekday you can keep costs down without compromising on style or quality. 💰

✴︎ You don't have to book a year or more in advance! Who knows where you'll be on that Saturday 18 months from now. With us you can book your elopement or pop-up wedding as soon as a month in advance.

✴︎ There's something about getting married on a weekday that makes potential guests feel less upset if they're not invited.

✴︎ Every day is a weekend when you're on holiday. 🏝️ If you're travelling to Byron Bay or Sydney to elope, why would you compete with locals for your wedding venue, celebrant, photographer, florist, hair stylist and makeup artist.

✴︎ And if that's not enough of a reason, getting married on a weekday is one of the most non-traditional and original ways to wed. 🙌🏼

We can’t share the identity of today’s newlywe

We can’t share the identity of today’s newlyweds yet 🤐 but we can share our advice for dealing with rain on your wedding day. 🌧️

Yes, elopements and micro-weddings make wet weather planning so much easier (small groups are far more flexible), but you still need to be prepared.

✴︎ Have a wet weather backup. This can be a sheltered area at your original location or another undercover or indoor location or venue nearby. While getting married in the rain may sound romantic, there are many elements that are just not practical in the rain (like singing paperwork).

✴︎ Have the right equipment. Clear umbrellas for your photos, towels for drying down furniture (or yourselves), a change of shoes so you can stomp through the mud and then pop your pretty ones back on. Make sure your guests are prepared too. Tell them to bring a brolly and wear appropriate footwear. Damp guests mean damp vibes, and you definitely don’t want any of those ruining your day.

✴︎ It’s your call. At the end of the day it is up to you to decide whether to go ahead in wet weather or implement your wet weather plan. Our team will do whatever we can to make your wedding work, when and where you want to have it. The only time we won’t be willing to get wet is if it’s unsafe to do so or if our equipment is compromised.

✴︎ Embrace the elements. Low cloud cover and the pitter-patter of raindrops make for a really intimate atmosphere. Rain literally makes people come closer together (huddling under an umbrella or sheltering under a tree), an overcast sky makes for perfect lighting for your photos and all that rain makes everything in sight sparkle and shine. ✨ And if you’re really lucky you might even get a rainbow. 🌈

Did you know that to get married in Australia you have to give at least one month's notice by lodging a form called the 'Notice of Intended Marriage' with your celebrant?

This form is then valid for up to 18 months and you do not have to have decided when or where you plan to get married in order to lodge it.

THAT MEANS YOU COULD GET MARRIED IN JUST OVER 4 WEEKS FROM TODAY!

✷ Can you lodge your notice with us before you've even chosen or booked your package? YES!

✷︎ Do you have to be an Australian citizen or live in the country to do this? NO!
